Somos Bakery : San Sebastián, Spain
I’m (slowly) planning an update to my Top 5 Breakfast Spots in San Sebastián blog, based on feedback ranging from kind to sort-of-agressive, but hey, that’s what happens on a free blog with no ads that I do in my nonexistent spare time.
One place that I’m sure will make the cut is Somos.
Located in the Antiguo neighborhood, Somos has, in just a year of being open, become a super popular spot for breakfast. A perfect leisurely morning is arriving (early to get a seat because this place is popular), sitting out on the terrace, and enjoying some great coffee, fab baked goods, and some eggs or avocado toast.
I have a VERY high bar when it comes to baked goods, and I am happy to say that I actually like several of the items on offer at this bakery! Shocker! (That’s another separate post, my favorite baked goods in town).
Pictured are a fabulously tender babka, YAY! And a chai roll, like a more chill, trendier cousin of the cinnamon roll. Both super tender and moist, as they should be. The coffee here is great too! And there are savory toasts that I haven’t gotten to try yet but look promising.
Somos also offers seasonal treats, like a fig and spicy honey toast this summer.
