sirimiri season

It's rainy season in San Sebastián, and everyone keeps cracking remarks to the effect of "you ain't seen nothin' yet." But we have-we've seen the siri-miri, we've seen granizado, and we've seen torrential downpours. We've also seen all that comes with the rain: rainbows shining through a light drizzle, 20 foot waves threatening to swallow parte vieja, and wet leaves plastered to the sidewalk after spending a beautiful weekend snowing down on passers by.

And, as some important town hall figure said to me once, the city 'aun tiene su encanto', rain or no. It's almost a shame, living here, because it's a daily struggle not to become numb to incredible beauty.
